What is sublimation?

Overview

Sublimation is a high-tech printing process where specialized inks are transferred onto fabric using heat and pressure. The design is first printed onto transfer paper using a high-speed inkjet printer. Then, through heat (over 400°F) and pressure, the ink bonds with the fabric, becoming a permanent part of the material.

How Sublimation Works

Every custom design starts digitally, where we ensure it fits the garment’s pattern perfectly. Once the layout is ready, it’s printed onto transfer paper. During sublimation, the ink is heated into a gas and penetrates the fabric, bonding directly with the fibers. This process preserves the fabric’s original texture and performance, ensuring the print won’t affect the feel or breathability. The result is a design that won’t fade, peel, or crack over time, keeping the uniforms looking sharp for years.

Sublimation is different from traditional methods like screen printing, where ink sits on the surface. Instead, sublimation dyes the fabric itself, resulting in vibrant, long-lasting prints.

The Quality Difference

Not all sublimation prints are created equal. At RocketWear, we ensure that every detail of your custom design is sharp and vibrant. Our colors are bold, including neons, and we achieve flawless gradient transitions. We pay close attention to the smallest details, from crisp logos to properly sized names and numbers. Our commitment to quality means your design is just as impressive in reality as it is on screen.

Why Choose Sublimation

  • Durability: The sublimation process creates a design that becomes part of the fabric itself, so it won’t crack, peel, or fade, even with regular use.
  • Full Customization: Sublimation allows for complete creative freedom. Whether you want patterns, logos, or fades wrapping around your uniforms, the design possibilities are endless. Plus, designs can be applied across different garment styles for a cohesive team identity.
  • Easy Reordering: Need more uniforms later? No problem. We can reproduce your exact design, colors, and patterns, so your new gear will match perfectly with your previous orders.
  • Fabric Functionality: Unlike some printing methods that add weight or texture, sublimation allows the fabric to maintain its original properties. Your uniforms will still be breathable, flexible, and comfortable to wear.
